Abatement Process

When a property sustains unforeseen damage as a result of a catastrophic event like a fire, storm damage, vehicle damage, etcetera, it typically triggers the need for immediate repairs or mitigation. In such a case, a building permit is typically required, this is referred to as an abatement.

Our team is here to assist property owners through this process every step of the way.  The process typically begins with an initial building investigation to assess the damage.  Prior to this initial investigation it is critically important that the property owner ensures all of the following:

If the building is in imminent danger of collapse or can become wind-borne, remove or demolish any significantly damaged portions of the building as soon as possible.
The property must remain secure at all times.
Do not begin construction or repairs until a permit has been issued.
